WANTED Community Band Conductor

The Arlington Heights Community Concert Band (AHCCB) is seeking to fill the position of Conductor/Director.  Our current conductor of five years is moving out of state.  The band is looking for someone to bring high energy and high standards of musicianship to our podium, tempered by a passionate sense of the value of music making at the community level.  If you enjoy working with multi-generational musicians, a wide variety of music, and bringing fun to players and audiences alike, read on.

 Beginning with the indoor season in September 2012, the AHCCB Conductor/Director will lead the band in three indoor concerts and several outdoor events each year.  The Conductor/Director will be responsible for planning the concert repertoire, conducting weekly rehearsals and leading the band’s concert performances.  The Conductor/Director will have control over the artistic and musical direction of the band and will work with the Board of Directors on all other business aspects.  The Director will receive a stipend.  Rehearsals are from 7:30pm – 9:30pm on Wednesday nights at the Forest View Educational Center. 

The AHCCB is a not-for-profit organization consisting of volunteer musicians organized for the purpose of providing an opportunity for individual musical expression and growth and to enrich the musical appreciation of the community it serves.  Currently, the band accepts all musicians over 14 years old with experience playing a wind band instrument.

Interested individuals should contact Joan Rogers, President, at 847-845-5416.  Candidates should have a resume with detailed listing of past conducting experience and references.  Select applicants will be required to lead at least one rehearsal in early summer 2012.
